I love Pickle Pie designs!

The coolest thing happened to me this week!

I've been asked to test some designs for Lisa at Pickle Pie Designs. She is a stay at home Mom and an artist. She draws all of her designs- so they are truly one of kind. You can visit her blog at

Last night I stitched out her in the hoop baby bunting boy and baby bunting girl dolls. And I must say... they are sooooo cute! I really love their eyes and they stitched out great. I love how there is plenty of room on the belly to add some personalization, too.

We don't have any little baby boys in our family so I made one for Ben (my little sister's boyfriends nephew....whoa!) I didn't know if Matt would approve of dolls for little boys, so I made it in this awesome Cowboys fleece. Now Moms and Dads and Uncles will all approve!

Then I made a little girl for Alyssa Grapes- so it had to be purple and green!
I used the vintage applique alphabet from Embroidery Boutique and the name Alyssa in Brody font from ggdesigns to add her name to the belly. I also had to add one of these little tags to the back... they're from digistitches and I LOOOOOOOVE them. I'm gonna spend a whole day stitching them out in different colors one day!
I love the little bow on her head.... I have a feeling I'm gonna have lots of orders from the nieces for these. I actually doubt seriously if this one ever makes it into Alyssa's hands.

I also got to stitch out her in the hoop bear with a big heart. Well.... mine has a big Cookie heart! So... you can guess who this is for. My kids just see me pull out the Cookie Monster fabric and ask... what are you making Jacob? Of course, it's for my little Jake Bake. I know he will love it!... and it had to have a tag, too.

Designs like this are my favorite... because they are so easy to personalize. Just think of all the different fabrics you can put in there- from characters, holiday prints, textures for kids with tactile issues, letters, numbers, names... oh! the possibilities! I have a feeling I will be making this little bear a LOT!!!

and last... but certainly not least... I tested out her cupcake applique design.
I mean, come on, who doesn't love a cupcake??? My mind was racing with what to do... but I finally decided upon a pot holder and an oven mitt. As you know, Ella and I watch Sandra Lee everyday and she is just cooking up a storm all the time... but the poor baby didn't have any of these. She loves them... and Lucy is fighting for them... so there are more of these in the future!

All I did was use sewing for sarah's designs for the mitts and stop in the middle to add the cupcake and then went back to finish the other design. I love how they turned out. I wasn't originally going to put the applique on the oven mitt, too, but Ella insisted... and I'm glad she did. I love the way it turned out. I love my tag, too! It's those little things that really make me love sewing!
I bought the cupcake fabric at Hobby Lobby... and got more of it.... enough to make an apron sometime, too.

I just can't tell you how happy I am to get the honor of doing this. I love embroidery and sewing and fabric... and there's just not enough time in my day to do all the projects in my brain. I love the thought of trying new things and it forces me to do that.
So, thank you so much Lisa! This was really fun and I will definitely recommend your designs. They are wonderful! I especially love the detailed instruction sheets that come with each design. So few designers do that and I find it so helpful when they do. Especially for a machine like mine (I cannot see the pictures clearly on the screen and the colors are usually not converted properly... so I can never tell what is supposed to come next) Your directions sure saved me a lot of time and headache. I wish more digitizers would do that!

So... go to her store and look all the designs. Be sure to check out the birthday badges. I get to test those out next and I can't wait. They are so cute!... let's see... Michael's birthday is next, so I guess happy birthday badge coming up for Miguel Jamie!

More hooded towels coming tomorrow... are you guys sick of them yet???
I hope not.
