Beauty Salon baby gift set

I have to tell you.... this one had me stumped.

I was commissioned to make a custom baby gift set for a salon owner. The customer wanted hair products as the theme.

I checked all my usual sites, with very little luck. I did find this one from Designs by Juju (which I ended up getting) but I will probably never use it again. I'm not a fan of small straight embroidery designs. I much prefer BIG appliques!

I emailed a few of my favorite digitizers and asked them if they could make a line of beauty product appliques. Lyndsie from LP was so kind and made these. Aren't they cute! I have a project in mind for them already. But they wouldn't work for this project... she wanted 'hair' products specifically.

Then I got the idea to put the logo on there. Woooo Hooooo! Genius.
But, my resident applique maker- my little sister- was in the hospital, so Lisa from Pickle Pie was so kind to make the logo into an applique for me. I am so pleased with how this set came out!

I put the logo and some of the hair designs on the hooded towel.

The fabric was purchased off ebay and was only one of two that I could find anywhere with a salon theme. I used this frame and this font from Planet Applique on the bib. The pattern for the bib is from the Sew Expecting ebook.

Then I remembered about these beauty softies that my Mom bought me from Sewing for Sarah. I've never used them, but need to- the girls had a blast playing with them.
I wish she'd change that picture on her website. Those softies don't look cute at all in that picture and they're really quite adorable- especially when I added all the hearts and the salon logo and stitched them out in pink and zebra and velour! oooooohhhhhhh!

I was so pleased when I was done with this set. It really gave me grief trying to figure out what to put on there and find fabric.... and oh. So, glad it's done and I love it!

Now.... three more custom orders to do and then I'm going to work my way thru my stash! I can't wait to have more free time to make what I want!
