80's Challenge- Rainbow Brite

Okay... I admit.
She's one of my favorites.

I guess I've passed that love to Ella, too, even though we only have two Rainbow Brite books. Usually she's in love with characters that she sees everywhere, but Ella is my girl when it comes to Rainbow Brite.

With one of our books.

I've been dying to make her a RB outfit for a while and this decades challenge finally kicked my butt into gear. I'm so thankful for it. This is one of my favorite things I've ever made. I just love it.

The back:

I remember having skirts with ruffles on the butt that my Mom made me in the third grade. Those skirts were so awesome! I wish I still had them.

For this skirt, I used the Audrey Ruffle skirt pattern. It was a lot of work- but well worth it. You should see Ella strutting her stuff. It's too funny!

Since I made it out of knit, instead of woven's- it's pretty heavy and very swishy. She loves to shake her little hiney when she's walking around. It's really quite hilarious.

She was actually so full of herself, modeling and prancing and dancing around...it was hard to get her to focus on the photo shoot. I finally got her to sit down and read the book.

That worked like a charm!

I love the headband we made, too. I used Pickle Pie's Monogrammed Star Pretties. Rainbow Brite has to have a star in her hair!

The embroidery files I used are not for sale.

And some shots of my two sweeties together. Lucy wanted to model her dress.
(a $1. 17, 17 inch remnant that I bought at Wal-Mart and seamed up the back to make a 'dress'... we've gotten more wear out of that thing....)

oh... and since it's the 80's challenge... remember this?
I still love that. My boy is so cute. :D
