Lucy's Valentine outfit

Isn't she just the cutest?

hey... it's my blog. I can brag, right?

This kid is just TOO funny.
She really is a little mini me.

She doesn't really care about what I dress her in either, which I love!

Ella always has her own ideas (which I also, actually, love) but Lucy will let me have creative control every time!

So I picked this FREE love applique by GGDesigns to pair with the skirt that I originally cut out for Boos.

I was soooo excited to get my rolled hem working for the little ruffles.

SERIOUSLY! You don't know how happy this made me.
I finally have the settings right on my serger for the rolled hem!!!
Happy dance. Happy dance!

I didn't use a pattern for this skirt. I just cut the waistband, three tiers of varying widths and the little ruffles- then I just hemmed it with some handmade bias tape.

Have I told you I love that machine?
... I know. Broken record.
Well... while I'm at it.

Have I told you I love felt stitchies?

Oh... I have???
Well, I do. LOVE them. a LOT.

And those big heart buttons.

Valentines is over, but I still have one more thing to show you.
Tomorrow.

LOVE the outfit!! Lucy is so cute!! You are lucky Lucy lets you make her whatever you want!! My daughter (who will be 4 the end of March) has some very strong opinions these days. I still make what I want sometimes (actually a lot of the time), but we have fights many mornings about what she is going to wear and she is contantly telling me what she wants me to make her!! :)

Ok, question on the rolled hem....I have done the rolled hem and got my settings right, but I didnt' write them down and the last time I tried the rolled hem the thread kept breaking! So frustrating!! Any input on what I am doing wrong? I have a Brother 1034D.

I just recently started reading your blog after seeing the beautiful work you do in the planetApplique forum. Everything you make is adorable, as are your models. And your rolled hems look fantastic.
My only concern is that after I went to download the LOVE applique--thank you so much for the link--I ended up with a cart full of stitchies as well! I'm not sure how that happened but I am pretty giddy at the thought of all the lovely barrettes I will be able to make...

Nicole - Can you post (maybe in the tutorials) what settings you use. I am trying to make my girls some skirts, but can't get the rolled hem right. I also have the Brother 1034D Serger.

Thanks!
