Re-purposed UK Wildcats baby dress

We're into college basketball around here....

well, I'm sort of into it... more than other sports... but my family is VERY into it.

We root for the Wildcats.
And isn't this the cutest little Wildcat you've ever seen?

My girlfriend married a guy from KY, so her little one needed a KY dress when they went to visit the bluegrass state!

I just LOVE how it turned out!

I just re-purposed two of my old KY shirts and some knit scraps into this little dress.
Here is the back of it:

I used this Kwik Sew pattern for the top

and then just added the middle band, skirt, ruffle,

and mock long sleeves.

I also added this cute little tag to the bottom of the skirt.
I love tags.... :)

I just couldn't be any happier with how it turned out and I was so happy with the fit, too.
I find that to be the most challenging when I'm making gifts for other people.

Thank you so much, Michelle, for letting me make her first KY dress!
It was so fun! I'm so glad you married someone from KY who makes you happy and made you a mommy!

She is just the cutest little future cheerleader.
