Happy Birthday Jacob!

It's my nephew's birthday today! Happy Birthday Jakey!

Birthday's are a little hard for me...
I miss my family so much and I just long to be there with them on birthdays...
but pouring my heart into their presents makes it easier for me to be away.

This little book we made for Jacob as a family was definitely a labor of love and I just think he'll love it so much!

I hand appliqued his favorite thing in the world on the front- Cookie Monster- and made the bias tape and spine out of Cookie Monster fabric.

I was originally going to hand applique and embroider the whole book.... but it was just taking too long and the kids wanted to contribute to the book, too.

So, I got out these fabric markers and hooped some muslin leftover from Judy's wedding tablecloths and let them go to town.
(well... actually, I only let them each do two, because the book was getting too thick)

Here are Ella's masterpiece's:

Ella went for the tracing method. She just stuck a coloring sheet of Maisy under her hoop and traced the little picture.

She wanted Maisy and all her friends going to Jacob's party.

She was pretty proud of it.

But when she saw me doing the hand embroidery, she wanted to add some embroidery to hers, too.

Talk about proud.... I can barely stand to give up this piece of art.
Isn't it cute?!

Lucy drew her pictures, taking care to draw things that Jacob liked.

Like, how much he loves bananas!

Or in this one, his love of cookies, candy, pancakes and popsicles.

She also told me, "I don't think Jakey likes cats very much, but I drew him some anyways."
Cute.

William free handed his pages, too, starting with Jacob's favorite- Cookie Monster.

Then Baby Einstein, another favorite.

Mr. Cole contributed a page.

And Ella informed him that, Jacob didn't like footballs. That he was drawing something HE liked instead of Jacob. I thought that was pretty funny.

I, also, contributed a fabric marker page, drawing Bear in the Big Blue House.

Then I did some pages with the embroidery machine.

This little polar bear with some spanish.

This little penguin with some spanish.

Lightning McQueen

This little pawprint to represent Blue's Clues

This little panda, I digitized myself to look like Maisy's panda.

And finally, this little sign language applique.

and then one other hand appliqued and embroidered page of a camera.
I really like this one.

I know it doesn't look like much... but man. That took me several days to complete.
I can't wait to send it off to my nephew.
We love you so much Jacob.

I know this is an older post, but I was hoping you could help me! Where did you get the Cookie Monster fabric? Everywhere I look seems to be out of stock. Thanks so much! Tiffany bigandlittlefoot@gmail.com
