Holy Swimsuits Batman!

I've always loved superheroes.
Batman, especially, has always been a favorite of mine.

This past month I really felt like a real live superhero in action. I've channeled my inner Batman and taken something really devastating in my life and turned it into a passionate project.
Losing the baby was really awful and shocking and painful; I needed something to keep me busy and keep my mind off being sad. So, I decided that I would take the advice from my friends and family and start drafting some of my designs into pdf patterns.

It's something that I've wanted to do for a long time and just never took the plunge.
Well, I started at the beginning of April and gave myself a deadline of May 1st to have my first pattern out and I did it!!! {said like Ella Woods at the end of Legally Blonde}

I made a LOT of swimsuits. These are just the first of the lot I've made.
It was so much fun, though.
I've been hesitant to put too much about here on the blog, because I don't want to turn my blog into some sort of advertisement for my patterns. I want it to continue to be what it is, where I sew whatever and tell you guys about it. I will still continue to test and review all sorts of patterns from other designers and pattern companies and show you what I'm working on.

It's so weird that I haven't been showing you guys these suits and I decided that it was stupid and I need to share them with you. I will be showing you all my suits this week!

This is the photo that I put at the end of my first pattern. I was going to get all fancied up and curl my hair and put on make-up and all that... then I decided that was stupid!
I'm a stay at home mom. I'd been taking care of kids, running them to sports practice, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, and sewing all day. This is what I always look like. Comfy pants. T-shirt. Hair in bun. No make-up. Here I am... with my sweet kids, the first 11 swimsuits I made from my first pattern, two months out from the most devastating thing in my life, and so proud and so happy.

Sometimes things happen in life that are sad. You never know when they might happen, but I've learned from the best that it's how you deal with those disappointments and curve balls that define you.

I choose to be happy; for myself, for my husband, for my kids, and for my family.

And today I got the most exciting news! In addition to selling my patterns in my etsy shop, Fairytale Frocks and Lollipops, The Fabric Fairy, and Craftsy, I got the news that all three of my patterns are being sold on YouCanMakeThis .com and I'm just so pleased I could burst.

I just had to come and tell you guys. So many of you have inspired me to do this and been so supportive and encouraging. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

If you've been wanting to draft patterns and have been scared, I say, go for it!
I've got 3 out and starting on 3 more! :)
