It was picture day yesterday and Ella decided to wear her new Boo Boo dress I made her.
I've been saving this fabric for years, but finally came to the conclusion that if I didn't use it for her soon, she may grow out of it. My Mom bought it for her since we call her Boo Boo. I used all but a very small piece of it and I must say, it feels rewarding and sad at the same time.
I had to add the polka dots because I didn't have enough to make a whole dress from the Boo Boo Bear fabric. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I really like the finished product.
With the lack of fabric, I couldn't afford to use a pattern, so I just cut this dress using what I had on hand.
The apron is totally separate from the dress and just ties around the waist.
I added the band at the bottom for visual interest and to add some length. Ella loves long dresses.
The little Boo Boo Bear was purchased off etsy years ago. I'm not even sure where it came from... I'm so sorry. I used to be terrible and keeping track of that stuff.
Isn't he cute, though. I just love Boo Boo Bear.
The pattern for the apron is self drafted, too, but so easy. I just bound the top with some handmade bias tape.
It's closed with tiny blue buttons on the back.
I'm usually not a fan of buttons (just because I hate buttoning them and making buttonholes...) but I really love how they look on this dress.
Ella loves the bow... man, she is into those corker bows right now.
I couldn't talk her into letting me trim them down... she likes them long.
I made the covered button out of some of the precious scraps. I'm not sure what I'll do with the rest of the 9 inches I have or so... probably save it forever. :)
I'm gonna be so sad when they really do get 'too old' for this kind of stuff.
Lucy wore her Cinderella dress from Grandma for picture day.
Not a handmade treasure, but a treasure just the same. She loves that dress and doesn't she look adorable?!
Love my kids.so.much!
