I've been meaning to make the girls some Nightmare before Christmas dresses for a long time now.
So, when Laura at Ellie Inspired had her Hopscotch Design Contest, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make them.
Of course, I didn't get them done in time to enter the contest.
I have been so busy with customer orders, football, and Halloween preparations, in addition to other things.
I know you guys have missed me on the blog. I've had some really sweet emails expressing that sentiment, as well as some not so nice emails wondering where I've been.
More on that later, maybe... maybe not.
Anyways... I stayed up late finishing these dresses last night and I just had to show you guys because
I'm just so thrilled at how they turned out.
I made Ella's with some really nice red jersey from fabric.com and some black and white cotton prints from Hobby Lobby. The pattern I used is, of course, the Hopscotch Girl pattern by Ellie Inspired.
I appliqued Jack to the front bodice
and added some faux fur trim to the sleeves.
The little clip in her hair is from Just Peachy applique.
I also used the little clippie embroidery file to do the applique on Ella's doll dress.
It was a test and turned out rather big, but Ella was thrilled to death with it.
Lucy's dress skirt is made from some knit fabric that I got about 2 or 3 years ago to make a Sally dress and never did it. The top is made from the same knit as her under garments for her Sally Halloween costume last year.
It's super cute and really soft, but I didn't really get a good shot of it, because....
Lucy was FREEZING!
Here she is after about 3-4 shots saying, "That's all Mom, I'm freezing!"
I appliqued Sally to the front of her dress and LOVE the way it turned out.
I got this file from ebay years ago and it's been on the (never ending to-do) list since.
I didn't have a tiny hair clippie or small file to put Sally on the doll dress, so I just used a little heart button in the same color as her hair.
It was the second dolly dress I made, so it fits much better!
I really love it.
It's so nice to sew for fun and cross things off the list that have been on there forever.
It also feels good to make my little ones so happy.
Aren't they adorable?!
Lucy had a birthday last week, so she is 6 now. :(
They grow up so fast.
